What is an Action Plan?

The University places a great deal of importance on its students developing the capacity for independent learning and self-management. By creating a Capabilities Profile, you have taken a step towards this by accurately assessing both your strengths and areas for development. The next step is to develop the capacity to set meaningful goals to help develop your capabilities and implement these goals through an Action Plan.

The Action Plan involves four steps:

  1. Goal setting -in what areas do I wish to develop myself?
  1. Checking the appropriateness of my goals : Is this a good choice?
  1. Strategy selection -How do I achieve my goals?
  1. Taking action -What practical steps will I take towards achieving my goal?

You can create multiple Action Plans for each Capability Profile. It is hoped that you will create an Action Plan when you feel that you need to develop your capabilities as required in the learning and assessment tasks you undertake.
