What goals should I choose?

You would have identified quite a number of areas in which you might usefully invest your time and energy. Learning how to make sound judgements about current priorities for development is an important part of becoming an effective self-managing learner.

There are two main agendas you might consider when deciding upon your learning goals or priorities:

Firstly there is a need to balance a focus on " improving what we do less well " and a focus on " recognising our strengths "

Therefore over time some of your learning goals will focus on addressing areas of personal weakness and some of your learning goals will focus on enhancing areas of personal strength. The balance is up to you.

Secondly, there is a need to balance a focus on "developing as a person" and a focus on " being technically skilled".

Therefore over time some of your learning goals will focus on your personal effectiveness and some of your learning goals will focus on your professional effectiveness. The balance is up to you.
