Description: Teachers in the early years require knowledge and understanding about how young children acquire language, reading and writing in order to develop children's competencies as effective communicators. Throughout the course students will investigate their own practice and engage in thoughtful reflective teaching. They will be encouraged to identify and articulate their implicit, personal theories, and question or reconceptualise the sometimes contradictory beliefs which underpin practice.
