Welcome to the first 2008 edition of the Griffith Learning and Teaching Newsletter.
I am delighted to have inherited editorship of the newsletter and I hope to collaborate with you in using it as a vehicle for sharing achievements, new developments and resources, and information about important issues around learning and teaching at Griffith.
While Internationalisation is the main features of this issue, we have also taken the opportunity to celebrate the success of Griffith’s teachers in the 2007 Carrick Awards for Australian University Teaching, to share presentations by our staff at conferences, and to bring to your attention the launch of a number of new websites and exciting resources and strategies to support learning and teaching.
After extensive consultation across the University I am very pleased to advise you that the new Learning and Teaching Website is available at http://www.griffith.edu.au/learning-teaching and to direct you to the new GIHE website launched by in February at http://www.griffith.edu.au/gihe. Both have been streamlined to focus on the complementary aspects of learning and teaching at Griffith.
GIHE has produced a series of extremely useful Good Practice Guides on key priorities in Academic Plan 3, a 2008 Cultural Diversity Calendar is attached, and we include links to a number of other valuable learning and teaching resources. You will also find attached three interesting podcasts on the teaching-research nexus, academic integrity, and e-learning in higher education.
I invite you to submit articles and links for dissemination through the newsletter and look forward to collaborating with you on future issues.
